Since March 24, 2020, online applications have been accepted for most immigration procedures. The following procedures are covered:
(1) Application for Certificate of Eligibility
(2) Application for Change of Status of Residence
(3) Application for Extension of Period of Stay
(4) Application for Permission to Acquire Status of Residence
(5) Application for Certificate of Authorized Employment
(6) Application for Re-entry Permit
(7) Application for Permission to Engage in Activity Other than that Permitted
Compared with applications filed at the counter, online applications are examined more quickly and remove the need to appear at the constantly crowded Immigration Services Bureau. Our office has filed more than 500 online applications since the system was partially introduced in July 2019, so you can entrust your application to us with confidence. (According to the Nikkei, the total number of online applications nationwide stood at 2,250 as of the end of January 2020.)
