- A "Student" who joins a company after graduation: change to "Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services" or a similar status
- A person with a work status who marries a Japanese national: change to "Spouse or Child of Japanese National"
- A company employee who becomes independent and runs his or her own company: change to "Business Manager"
Points to note
- You may not begin the activities of the new status before the change is approved.
- The application must be filed before your current period of stay expires.
- If you apply by the deadline, you may continue to stay in Japan even if the period expires during the examination, until the date of the decision or two months after the expiry date, whichever comes first.
