Entertainer Visa
Entertainer is the status of residence for foreign nationals who perform in theatrical, musical, sports and other shows, or engage in other entertainment activities. It covers actors, singers, dancers, musicians and professional athletes, as well as TV and film production and photo shoots or promotional work for advertising.
Categories of activity
The criteria were revised in August 2023, including the requirements for organizations that receive foreign performers or organize shows. The requirements for the performer's career, the contracting and receiving organizations, and the venue depend on the category.
Period of stay
3 years, 1 year, 6 months, 3 months or 30 days.
Temporary Visitor vs. Entertainer
Performing or filming in Japan for pay generally requires Entertainer status even for a short period. Please contact us as soon as the tour or event schedule is fixed.
We assist with inviting overseas artists, athletes and film crews, from determining the category to applying for the Certificate of Eligibility.
